Auckland CBD’s popular public waterfront space, Queens Wharf, have been making some bold and exciting new changes to this popular harbour side spot.
With a view of developing a family friendly area, the addition of some bright Shade7 outdoor umbrellas is one of the first changes that have been made.
Queens Wharf was in need of a family friendly, comfortable and usable space that offered sun and rain protection. Located on the Waitemata Harbour, Queens Wharf is positioned in an extremely exposed area making it susceptible to very strong winds. This was a huge consideration when seeking a shade solution for this area.
Auckland Council approached Shade7 to supply 15 of their 3.5m Tempest outdoor umbrellas to be installed in various locations around The Cloud on Queens Wharf. These Tempest umbrellas were chosen due to their superior strength, wind resistance and ability to easily open and close as required. These large Tempest outdoor umbrellas have been specifically engineered to endure tough commercial and exposed environments, withstanding wind gusts of up to 80-100kph. Although situated in a coastal salt water environment, these umbrellas have been made with aluminium frames that are highly rust resistant. Managing Director of Shade7 Michael Pearce says “We are proud to have our outdoor umbrellas in such a prominent and popular Auckland location. The Tempest has been designed to withstand environments just like this and with its bright colours the umbrellas will certainly draw attention from those passing by.”
In keeping with the trendy style of Queens Wharf, the outdoor umbrellas have been fitted with Orange, Yellow and Blue canopies made from high strength PVC. Queens Wharf will see quite a number of exciting improvements over the coming months. If you are in Auckland make sure you take a look this summer.
