Shade7’s very own designed and engineered cantilever umbrellas are now aboard the state of the art super yacht ‘Aviva’. After three years of construction in secrecy at the German shipyard of Abeking and Rasmussen, the brand new Aviva super yacht has finally hit the waters in May 2017. British Billionaire Joe Lewis is the proud owner of this 98.4m yacht, which is the largest yacht that Abeking and Rasmussen have ever built. Lewis, listed as the 248th richest person on the Forbes’ List of billionaires (2016), is no stranger to yachts with this being his 4th yacht named Aviva and he is said to be using it as his own personal mobile office.
The brand new yachts design allows it to reach speeds of up to 20 knots and also up to 11 knots when taking advantage of electric motors on its hybrid drive system. They’ve managed to reduce drag by 20% which will assist in a reduction of fuel consumption. There is still a lot of privacy surrounding the project with very little known about the interiors of the yacht. It is said to house a full sized tennis court and can accommodate up to 16 guests.
Shade7 were approached to supply their commercially durable umbrellas to provide shade on the open seas whilst being subject to wind, salt water, rain and sunshine. The Riviera cantilever umbrella was specifically crafted to handle tough conditions with its marine grade frame components and outdoor fabrics, making it ideal for this yacht. Its ability to rotate 360 degrees with infinite tilt settings makes it one of the most flexible cantilever umbrellas on the market. There are several 3.5m Octagonal cantilever umbrellas on board in a bright yellow marine grade fabric.
This yacht is not the first to feature Shade7’s outdoor umbrellas and is just one of the many innovative projects that Shade7’s outdoor umbrellas have been featured in, another recent one being the world’s first island beach club in Fiji.
Shade7 offer both residential and commercial outdoor umbrellas solutions internationally. You may contact them to discuss your own requirements via their website.
