The shift away from international travel in recent times has meant a change in how New Zealanders use their precious holiday time. Many who would previously have taken holiday breaks away from home decided that if holidays were spent at home instead of being pampered overseas, why not make home as comfortable as the intended resort destination?
Adding this shift in use of leisure time, to the kiwi love of outdoor entertaining, New Zealanders have been creating and enhancing their havens of refuge and hospitality with practical focus and creative flair. Premium outdoor umbrellas and furniture feature strongly in this trend.
In a perfect pairing with Shade7 premium outdoor umbrellas, Shade7’s OceanWeave furniture is a beautiful and trusted range that focuses on durable, lasting combinations of premium Rehau Raucord wicker and outdoor fabrics supported by commercial-strength aluminium. With perennial favourites and the introduction of an occasional new line, OceanWeave outdoor furniture graces some of the most stunning locations in private residences and luxury resorts throughout New Zealand and the pacific.
With significant international demand on Sunbrella fabrics, being nimble and proactive, the Shade7 OceanWeave team made decisions to introduce new colour schemes for two of their most popular items to keep the ranges well-stocked.
The Paris modular lounge suite is a popular favourite, with large square-cut pieces that can be assembled in multiple arrangements, offering a versatile, elegant option to flatter and serve many outdoor design sensibilities, for spaces of almost any size. Woven in the long-lasting German-made Rehau Raucord wicker, the Paris is offered in both dark Slate and pale Whitewash wicker. Traditionally both these wicker options came with Coal Sunbrella seat cushions. Shade7 took the opportunity to review and refresh their Paris offering. Firm back cushions have been replaced by soft back cushions. While the Paris Slate colour scheme remains unchanged with Coal seat cushions, the new fabric for the Paris Whitewash is Cast Slate, a dove grey Sunbrella fabric that subtly draws out the soft dove grey in the Whitewash wicker. The change plays beautifully into the softer palettes of contemporary colour schemes.
Similarly, the extremely popular Athens dining chair with its simple, almost Scandinavian design of sturdy white aluminium with teak armrests, now features Cast Silver Sunbrella seat cushions, a grey even paler than Cast Slate, making the simple design look even more elegant.
This season Shade7 introduced a new lounge suite design into the OceanWeave range: the stunning contemporary 5-piece Madrid. With Slate Raucord wicker woven around a dark powder-coated aluminium frame, Shade7 carries the extra-pale Cast Silver fabric into the Madrid. The pale cushion covers provide an attractive and dramatic contrast with the dark wicker.
The Madrid lounge suite has a very wide stance with exceptionally thick seat cushions. Cushion inners are made of the quick-dry marine reticulated foam so essential to outdoor furniture and featured throughout the OceanWeave range. The pronounced horizontal and vertical lines of the sofa and chairs are softened by a gentle outward curve at the top of the otherwise vertical armrests. The sofa and chairs are very generously proportioned, with the single chairs wide enough to seat two people snugly side by side. The suite consists of a double sofa, two single sofas, a footrest, and an aluminium coffee table. The very thick seat cushions are perfectly balanced by the short legs and space beneath each piece.
Shade7 is thrilled with the reception of this new addition, along with the outstanding success of the addition of the paler fabrics to the OceanWeave range.
