The Base in Te Rapa, Hamilton, is one of New Zealand’s largest shopping centres, enjoyed by many thousands of locals and visitors to the Waikato.
NZ’s outdoor umbrella specialists Shade7 were approached by The Base about installing outdoor umbrellas around the facility to provide attractive, practical shelter from both sun and rain. The opportunity was embraced by the team at Shade7, and in late February 2019 their installation technicians installed fifteen impressive commercial Tempest outdoor umbrellas, and ten stylish, marine grade Monaco outdoor umbrellas around the site.
Travelling from the Shade7 factory and showroom in St Johns, Auckland, meant a two-day trip to install the Tempest and Monaco umbrellas in Hamilton. Cam Pearce, one of Shade7’s versatile team, loved the experience. Seeing the heavy-duty giant telescopic Tempest umbrellas perfectly lined up, along with the ten Monaco umbrellas, was one of the most satisfying projects Cam has worked on so far.
Both the Tempest and the Monaco umbrellas are extremely durable, made of marine-grade aluminium, and so are perfectly suited to the challenges of The Base. The Tempest has been engineered to withstand wind gusts of 80-100kph, while the Monaco, a luxury centre-post umbrella designed by Shade7, can withstand wind gusts of 50-70kph. Both umbrella canopies are European-made acrylic canvas, with a UPF rating of 80, cutting out the maximum amount of harmful UV light for excellent sun protection. Solution-dyed, the canopies have a 7-year warranty for residential placement, and a 5-year warranty for commercial use.
As well as being a popular residential option, the Monaco has been installed across numerous resorts, including five star resort Six Senses in tropical Fiji, and the Hilton KORO, a stunning adults only resort complex that also features the Tempest umbrella.
